Chief Development Officer

The Jewish Community Federation of San Francisco

 

The Jewish Community Federation seeks a dynamic professional, well-versed in change management, to develop and implement a plan for total financial resource development, which may include staffing restructure and realignment of resources, to advance the Federation into our next century. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Chief Development Officer will serve on the executive management team, lead the development team and play a key role in overall organizational strategy. The CDO will execute a comprehensive and diversified financial resource development plan that encompasses both annual fundraising as well as Endowment business development. This includes overseeing JCF’s legacy campaign strategy and implementation and leading the integration of planned gift cultivation, marketing, and stewardship.

 

The CDO, in partnership with the CEO, will play a key role in identifying, cultivating, and soliciting major donors and will him/herself carry a portfolio of major donors as well as serve as a role model for the development team and senior staff to pursue and achieve the organization’s philanthropic goals.

 

Qualifications and Success Factors:

• Minimum of 12-15 years of progressively responsible experience in a combination of high-profile non-profit and/or corporate settings with substantive leadership responsibility for fundraising and institutional advancement.

• Demonstrated success in major gifts fundraising and in stewarding a large portfolio of major donors.

• Demonstrated success identifying and anticipating the impact of emerging trends in philanthropic development and fundraising and incorporating these into decision making.

• Strong management and leadership skills, including demonstrated success developing high-performing, empowered teams in a culture of accountability and discipline.

• Proven record in establishing and stewarding long-term trusted relationships with clients, donors and volunteer leaders and agencies and institutions.

• Experience with and knowledge about charitable gift planning and philanthropic vehicles and ability to facilitate sophisticated philanthropic and estate planning conversations.

• Models a personal commitment to the Jewish community, Jewish values and a proven commitment to broader civic and community issues.

• Bachelor’s degree required; Graduate degree in business, Jewish community service, or related field preferred.

Senior VP: Caring for Jews in Need

The Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles

The Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles is seeks and energetic Sr. VP: Caring for Jews in Need  to lead efforts on issues related to social service planning, allocations and program delivery work of the Federation in Los Angeles, Israel and with overseas Jewish Communities.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES

Staff the Caring for Jews in Need committee and subcommittees that support evaluation and services to the populations in need. Serve as point-of-contact for social service agencies locally, in Israel and overseas. Working with lay leaders and staff, lead the development of priorities and the implementation of creative initiatives to address them, with a goal of enhancing the Federation’s strategic impact. Lead staff and oversee Federation initiatives – HaMercaz, seniors, etc. Leverage work of Federation with other partners and in service to the Campaign. Participate in the annual campaign, including donor solicitation and cultivation. Participate in collaborative Federation and community planning process with other program and campaign colleagues.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED FOR POSITION

Masters degree in the field of Public Administration, Social Work, Jewish Education, or related area preferred; minimum 5-10 years related experience in social service grant-making, community organization, program management and/or program development essential; understanding of the structure of the Jewish community, its religious components, culture and history; ability to work with all levels of staff and lay leadership; ability to set timelines, establish priorities and stimulate productivity necessary to meet deadlines, ability to assess program feasibility. Knowledge of Judaism and the Jewish community is highly desired. Appropriate education and related experience strongly desired.
